Parbat District is a hilly region, a part of Gandaki Province, and one of the seventy-seven districts of Nepal. It covers an area of 494 km2 (191 sq mi), and a population of 157, 826 (2001). Parbat is fourth smallest district with 47 VDC’s. Parbat is mostly famous for the Gupteshwor Cave, which attracts thousands of visitors during Shivaratri.

While Parbat is well-known for many things, many do not consider it a trekking destination. Kokhe Danda situated beside the popular Poon Hill Mohare Trek route, is one of the underrated destinations of Nepal.

Kokhe Danda, situated at a height of 3303m, is a new destination that can be reached by an easy two-hike from Pokhara. It provides a view of the Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Mansiri, Macchhapuchre, and Langtang ranges. Kokhe Danda is the highest point in Parbat District.

Kokhe is a hidden gem with a breathtaking Himalayan view. You will not require any permits as it does not lie in the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP).

Kokhe Danda: Itinerary from Pokhara

  • Day 1– Pokhara- Haljure

Haljure presents the panoramic view of Dhaulagiri to Langtang, as well as beautiful sunrise, and sunset views.

  • Day 2: Lespar- Sarga

Lespar is a beautiful village situated in the hills of Hampal Danda.

  • Day 3: Sarga – Jaljala – Kokhe
  • Day 4: Kokhe – Taprang – Jhillibarang

Jhillibarang to Nayapul trail is located on the other side of the Nayapul to Tikhedhunga River, which prevents you from entering the ACAP region.

  • Day 5: Jhillibarang – Pokhara
