In terms of education, she came to Kathmandu to complete her primary and secondary education. After the completion of her schooling, she was then enrolled in Ace Institute of Management in Kathmandu and completed her Bachelor’s.

She was interested in acting from an early age and used to take part in drama, dance, and program hosting in schools and colleges. “Captain” is the debut movie of Upasana which was released in the year 2019. She was seen alongside the Mega Star Anmol K.C. This movie was a flop at the box office and received poor reviews from critics. Upasana was nominated for the Best Debut Actor (Female) for her performance in Captain.

After the movie ‘Captain’, Upasana appeared in the Romantic comedy ‘Kabaddi Kabaddi Kabaddi’ directed by Ram Babu Gurung, in 2019. This movie broke the record for the highest opening-grossing movie ever in Nepal. Many critics and viewers praised her performance in the movie. Then, she signed on to opposite Aaryan Sigdel in Pravin Jha’s December Falls in 2021. Along with nine other actresses, she received the National Navdurga Award in 2021 for her contribution to the Nepali Cinema.
