Dho Tarap is a beautiful village situated in the northwest of Nepal, Dolpa District in the Karnali Province. Shey Phoksundo National Park is one of Nepal’s largest national parks, and Shey Phoksundo Lake is the primary attraction of Dolpo trekking.

Dho Tarap Valley is a beautiful village located in the northwest of Nepal in the Dolpo Buddha Rural Municipality of Dolpa District of Karnali Province (previously Karnali Zone of Mid-Western Development Region). At the time of the 2011 census, it had a population of 923 people living in 205 individual households.
Dho-Tarap is the common name for DhoVillage(Ward-1, Dolpo Buddha RM) and its neighboring village Lang (Ward-2, Dolpo Buddha RM), and Tokyou (Ward-3, Dolpo Buddha RM). Tarap was once the administrative hub of the area.
At 4080 meters Dho Tarap ranks as the World’s highest human settlement. The native of DhoTarap practices Buddhism to date. The trail that travels to Jomsom, Mustang, and Tibet comes to Dho.
The houses of this village are built in a traditional architectural way. Dho Tarap is reachable from nine district Dolpo villages in a single day.
Trails go to Phoksumdo, the deepest lake in Nepal, and Jumla district to the west, Shey Gompa, Bijer village, and Mugu district to the west; Bentsang valley and Tibet across the Maryum la to the north; and Charka village and Mustang district to the east; Sahartara and down to Kathmandu and to the south; and Phoksumdo, the village, to the west.
