With 68,612 votes, Sunit was elected, while Rameshwar Shrestha of the Unifies Socialists, a coalition party got 23, 806 votes.

Sunita Dangol was engaged in indigenous-script (Ranjana) activism and Newa Heritage Conservation before being chosen as Kathmandu’s Deputy Mayor. Also, she was crowned “Miss Newa 2011” in the 7th Cultural Beauty Pageant and won a Rs. 25,000 cash prize.

Sunita also was a TV and Radio Show Host. She developed an interest in Nepal Bhasa, and in 2014, she began learning Nepal Bhasa Lipi, or script. Then, she began teaching the script and founded Callijatra, a non-official organization for preserving and advancing the language. Furthermore, she began online one-minute language lessons in Nepali Bhasa. Sunita was also recognized as the “Lipi Queen” and the face of the Nepali Bhasa Tutorial.
