In 2009, he started working with Capgemini Consulting as a management consultant for strategy and transformation. Four years later, he started as the director of the New York Advisory Practice at Next Street.
In January 2016, Lazan quit his high-paying job at a financial services consulting business and launched The Gables, a modest but comfortable neighborhood counter-service café open all day that has gained a following for its healthy take on Westside LA comfort food.

In 2006, while still a college student, Kevin Lazan got to know Rachel Platten. After almost six years of relationships, he asked her to marry him in a tree-lined New England carriage ride. Following that, the two spent several months searching for the right place to live.
